Abstract

This essay explores the idea of a syllabus as sculpture and the classroom as a studio, based on the experience of OVO, an acronym for Ovulário de Vacilação Onto-Epistêmica (Onto-Epistemic Wavering Ovulary), conducted by an artist-etc. in the graduate program of the philosophy department at PUC-Rio during the second semester of 2024. Invoking a certain indisciplinarity, the text is interspersed with fragments of letters submitted as final assignments for the course, which involved students from philosophy, literature, architecture, and theater. The essay defends the role of poetic gestures in philosophical practice and the place of desire in the classroom, arguing that teaching and learning involve an erotic relationship with the university — a bond increasingly threatened by the precarization of education and that comes to life as a classroom anchored in an artistic practice.
