Abstract

Tutelage of the contemporary urban landscape: the case of Pescara (Abruzzo-Italy) The decision to create a new metropolitan reality by 2027 that joins the cities of Pescara, Montesilvano and Spoltore represents a problem for the protection of the landscape and the built heritage of the Adriatic coast. The cities of the Abruzzo coast have in fact grown in total indifference to the regulations and development plans conceived to guarantee urban quality and respect for pre-existing buildings. The cataloging of the urbanistic heritage of Pescara undertaken in 2011 therefore aims to guide the future transformation of the city through knowledge of the identity heritage with a view to a necessary balance between development and conservation. Keywords: Archaeology of Architecture; architectural restoration; Pescara; Abruzzo.
