Abstract: This article aims to address the unique atmosphere that was produced in Professor James Arêas' classes, as well as his pedagogical practice in teaching Philosophy. This is a tribute to one of the great Philosophy professors on the Rio university scene. James never separated philosophy from life. This difficult unity shone through in his classes and in his life.
