Abstract

This paper presents a description of the results obtained in a bibliographical research on the historiographical production relating to the history of women in sport and bodily practices in Brazil. This is an unprecedented study in the country whose objective was to map the historiographical production dedicated to understanding women in Brazilian sport over the last 20 years. The mapping carried out identified the time frames, thematic preferences, the main bibliographical references in the field, as well as the theoretical approaches adopted throughout this production, with the aim of contributing to the expansion of historiographical knowledge regarding the relationships between women and sport. Likewise, the influence of gender studies on the production of sports history in Brazil in recent decades was investigated, analyzing the dialogues between History and emerging sociological currents.
