Stonefly species (Insecta, Plecoptera) recorded from Rio de Janeiro State, Brazil

Abstract

A preliminary list of the species of Plecoptera from Rio de Janeiro State, southeastern Brazil, is presented. The list was based on a survey of the literature and examination of insect collections. Thirty-nine species have been recorded from the State, but those include two nomina dubia and four dubious records. Nevertheless, the number of records probably represents a small fraction of the plecopterofauna of the State. The available data on the distribution of each species within the State (municipalities) are given.
