Lines of Research on Moral Disengagement and Its Impact on Social Behavior Moral disengagement (MD) is a useful theoretical construct for understanding various social behaviors. However, the literature on MD is scattered. This study consolidates the field by examining the academic production and major research trends on the impact of MD on various behaviors in contemporary social settings. The results showed four lines of research: the impact of MD on counterproductive work behaviors (1), the interaction of MD with emotional factors in school bullying (2), cyberbullying in adolescents (3), and the influence of MD on attitudes and behaviors related to sports doping (4).
