Introduction: Professional reasoning in Occupational Therapy is an internationally consolidated field of research, but still incipient in Brazil. This study is part of the line of investigation on the development of occupational therapists' reasoning throughout their careers. Objective: To identify how the professional reasoning of expert Brazilian occupational therapists who use the Dynamic Occupational Therapy Method has changed and evolved throughout their professional development and what factors contributed to these transformations. Methods: The constructivist approach of Grounded Theory (GT) was used. Ten occupational therapists who were experts in the Dynamic Occupational Therapy Method participated. Data collection was carried out through individual and group interviews, and the analysis followed Constant Comparative Analysis. Results: Three categories were delineated: 1) professional reasoning at the beginning of their careers; 2) transformations in professional reasoning throughout their careers; and 3) factors that contributed to expanding professional reasoning throughout their careers. The evolution demonstrated a shift from a disease-centered, deficit-focused, slow-paced, and theory-bound reasoning to a health-focused and situation-oriented reasoning, becoming faster, intrinsic, dynamic, intuitive, and deeply grounded in the Dynamic Occupational Therapy Method. Conclusion: The development of professional reasoning is a dynamic process that transforms the focus of practice and the way of thinking, and continuous involvement in supervisory activities proved essential for this development. Furthermore, the Dynamic Occupational Therapy Method proved to be a framework that allowed for the consolidation of reasoning grounded in the uniqueness and situationality of the individuals served.
