This study investigates the female representation effect on the board of directors on inclusion in Carbon Efficient Index (ICO2) of Brazilian Stock Exchange (B3). Regarding the methodological procedures, the logistic regression method was used, with the analysis based on a sample of 232 publicly traded companies listed on B3 from 2017 to 2022. The main findings indicate women presence on the board of directors has a positive relationship with companies’ inclusion in the ICO2 index, corroborating the research hypothesis proposed in this study. This finding reinforces gender diversity on boards of directors is associated with sustainable practices related to greenhouse gas emissions. Furthermore, the results indicate, even when considering changes in the index’s composition from 2019 to 2021, a positive relationship still exists between female representation on the board and inclusion in ICO2, demonstrating consistency in the analyzed relationship. Thus, this study contributes to broadening the academic and practical debate on gender diversity and sustainable practices, helping to fill the gap in the national literature.Downloads
