About the Journal

Focus and Scope

Analytica - Journal of Philosophy is a biannual periodical published under the responsibility of the Seminário Filosofia da Linguagem since 1993, with a focus on the publication of original and high-quality research. Its editorial policy does not favor any particular philosophical position, as long as the texts reflect an understanding of philosophy as conceptual analysis and argumentation.

Initially marked by the purpose of consolidating a philosophical vocabulary in the Portuguese language, Analytica privileged texts written in our language. Currently, considering this accomplished goal and in view of the quantitative and qualitative expansion of the Brazilian philosophical community, the editors have decided to renew their priorities, and today Analytica accepts and publishes texts in Portuguese, English, Spanish, and French.

As an esteemed philosophy academic journal, we uphold a set of principles and practices that promote excellence and integrity in scholarly publishing. We prioritize the following good practices:

  • Originality: We seek original and groundbreaking research that contributes to the advancement of philosophical knowledge.
  • Rigorous Review Process: We ensure a thorough and unbiased peer review process, conducted by experts in the field, to uphold the highest academic standards.
  • Ethical Conduct: We adhere to ethical guidelines, including avoiding plagiarism, maintaining confidentiality, and disclosing conflicts of interest.
  • Clear and Concise Writing: We encourage authors to present their ideas in a clear, precise, and accessible manner, facilitating engagement and comprehension.

By embracing these good practices, we foster a scholarly environment that fosters intellectual growth and promotes the dissemination of valuable philosophical insights.

The journal is currently indexed in the Philosopher's Index (USA). Its editorial policies and contents are deposited in the Directory of Policies of Brazilian Scientific Journals (Diadorim) of IBICT and comply with the Budapest Open Access Initiative

Peer Review Process

Analytica. Journal of Philosophy employs a rigorous double-blind peer review process. All submissions undergo anonymous evaluation by expert reviewers, ensuring impartiality and maintaining the highest standards of scholarly integrity. This process ensures fair assessment and constructive feedback, contributing to the publication of high-quality research in our journal.

The final decision regarding the publication of contributions rests exclusively with the editors, who first evaluate if the manuscript is compatible with the journal's editorial line and, if it is, carefully weigh the ad hoc reviews provided by renowned experts in the field and subject matter of the manuscript. Each submission is submitted to at least two double-blinded reviews, which may (a) recommend publication, (b) recommend publication with revisions, or (c) reject publication.

Best Practices in Academic Publishing

Analytica: Journal of Philosophy is committed to upholding high standards of good practices in academic publishing throughout the entire process. Its editors and advisory boards consider plagiarism a serious offense against academic research and do not tolerate it under any circumstances.

In this regard, its practices align with established procedures by important institutions such as the SciELO Guidelines on Best Practices for Strengthening Ethics in Scientific Publishing, Open Access Scholarly Publishers Association, the Code of Good Scientific Practices of FAPESP, Directory of Open Access Journals, as well as the Principles of Transparency and Good Practice in Academic Publications by COPE.

Furthermore, measures are implemented to prevent the publication of manuscripts that engage in plagiarism (partial or complete). To ensure the originality of the articles published here, all manuscripts undergo an initial evaluation to examine any potential similarity with other published texts, using Turnitin's products.
