Acrasia, Metamorfoses e o Suicídio de Sêneca na Ética de Espinosa
Abstract
A teoria de Espinosa enfrenta, aparentemente, dificuldades para incorporar a noção de conflito interno, uma vez que ela defende a tese segundo a qual a essência atual do homem, como de resto de toda coisa singular, envolve apenas a afirmação do que lhe pertence. Porém, para explicar o fenômeno da servidão, formulado em termos da noção de acrasia, a Ética deve dar conta de uma forma qualquer de conflito interno, ainda que seja ilusório. Usando o suicídio como um modelo extremo de aparente conflito interno, poderemos esclarecer esse aspecto da filosofia espinosista.
Abstract
Spinoza's theory faces some difficulty in assimilating the notion of internal conflict due to one of its central claims, following which the actual essence of man, like those of every other singular thing, involves only the affirmation of what belongs to him. To explain the phenomenon of servitude, however, the demonstrations presented in Ethics should account for some form of internal conflict, even if it is simply illusory, since the former is explained in terms of the notion of akrasia. Using suicide as an extreme model of internal conflict, we can elucidate this aspect of Spinoza's philosophy.p
