About the Journal
Focus and Scope
The Brazilian Journal of Dance Studies is a biannual scientific publication of the Graduate Program in Dance at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ) and the National Association of Dance Researchers. Its objective is to publish and disseminate knowledge through the publication of original works in the form of articles, both theoretical and applied, dossiers, and book reviews resulting from research conducted by researchers from scientific institutions of recognized technical and academic merit. We also publish texts in the form of experience reports and essays related to the following topics: Dance and related areas, provided they establish a dialogue with Dance as an area of knowledge or social practice.
The Brazilian Journal of Dance Studies will accept for publication works in the form of articles, essays, visual essays, experience reports, dance reviews, book reviews, interviews, and original and unpublished memoirs, written in Portuguese, English, French, or Spanish, that are the result of academic/artistic studies and that promote knowledge in areas related to dance.
Unpublished texts or translations in Portuguese, Spanish, English, and French are published. All published texts have a bilingual version, with Portuguese always being one of the languages.
The Brazilian Journal of Dance Studies is aimed at an audience of researchers, teachers (of all levels of education), professionals, specialists, and students who work or are interested in the areas of dance.
Peer Review Process
All articles received are reviewed by peers who are experts in the field with high academic qualifications. The double-blind peer review method will be used.
Final approval for publication is made considering the following criteria:
- favorable opinion of both reviewers;
- necessary adjustments made by the author, if there are recommendations;
The Brazilian Journal of Dance Studies accepts for publication works in the form of articles, essays, experience reports, dance reviews, book reviews, interviews, and original and unpublished memoirs, written in Portuguese, English, French, or Spanish, that are the result of academic/artistic studies and that promote knowledge in areas related to dance.
All works must be submitted through the Electronic Journal Publishing System (SEER) at: https://revistas.ufrj.br/index.php/rbed. At the time of submission, the name(s) of the author(s), institution to which they belong, email, postal address, telephone number(s) of the author(s), article titles, and information about abstracts in the original language of the article, in Spanish and in English, must be provided. A brief description in the biography section, which will be included at the end of the article, and the ORCID registration of the author(s) are also required.
It is important to note that general information about authorship, affiliation, qualifications, and email addresses should be restricted to the registration form and should not appear anywhere else in the work.
Note 1: The evaluation of experience reports, essays, dance reviews, and memoirs is carried out by one ad hoc reviewer and one reviewer who is an editor or member of the Editorial Board.
Note 2: The evaluation of interviews and book reviews is carried out by one of the Associate Editors.

Ethical Commitment
The Brazilian Journal of Dance Studies follows the ethical principles and standards of conduct that govern it, with regard to the originality of articles, transparency, and integrity of research results, so that scientific knowledge is disseminated with a view to contributing to the quality of life of society.
Indexing
After its first four years, it is intended that the Brazilian Journal of Dance Studies be submitted for evaluation by some indexing databases, such as Latindex (Mexico), Dialnet (Spain), Scielo (Brazil), and REDALIC, so that it can be indexed according to the list of suggestions presented by the RAE Publicações/FGV website (2018) and, likewise, enter the CAPES-MEC Qualis Journal evaluation system starting in 2026.
