This article presents an overview of the Dance Degree Program at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN), created in 2009 within the context of the REUNI program. The research analyzes how the program articulates teaching, research, and outreach, overcoming the segregation between theory and practice. The central axes of the research are: the language of dance as a mode of knowledge; artistic and pedagogical research; and the processes of choreographic creation in dialogue with the social and historical reality of Rio Grande do Norte. Through a documentary analysis of the Course Pedagogical Project (PPC) and related academic productions, the study reveals an intellectual production focused on ethical, critical, and creative training. It concludes that the program consolidates a field of knowledge that values the body as a space of history and writing, reaffirming the pedagogical role of dance both in the university and in basic education.
