V2 and the left periphery in Medieval Spanish

In this work, I take up the V2 analysis to Medieval Spanish. To do it: 1) I present the empirical definition of the V2 language and the data of Medieval Spanish as a symmetrical V2 language; 2) I present the initial formal analysis for the variation in V2; 3) I discuss the verb placement and I present recent arguments against the V2 in Medieval Spanish; 4) I back to the formal analysis to V2 discussing V>2 orders; 5) I present three alternative proposals to explain V2 in medieval Spanish. The conclusion is that Medieval Spanish was a V2 language and that the problem is exclusively which analysis is most adequate to explain the apparent exceptions of well-described Germanic V2.Downloads
