(Timárion ou Acerca das suas vicissitudes – Reflexões)

Sob a máscara de uma despretensiosa prosa helénica ficcional, de autoria não identificada, o libelo reflete, com traço satírico lucianesco, aspetos de vários domínios socioculturais bizantinos do século XII, a exemplo de serviços, medicina, tribunais, filosofia, retórica, religião, valores, todavia sem intentar assumir-se como uma profissão de fé, tampouco emular-se a um folhetim de transgressão pagã. À partida, uma sequência simples de três momentos: um homem morre; comprova-se ter sido erradicado por engano e restitui-se à vida. Considerando o complexo período histórico de censura e castigo, propõe-se uma leitura crítica sobre a matéria inclusa, disposta amiúde em dicotomias, como espaço terreno/Hades, paganismo/cristianismo, retórica/filosofia, justiça terrena/justiça divina.
