The mythological fable “Odisseu e a Odisséia ou Ulisses e a Ulisséia” presents an entirely ironical overview of Ulysses’s journey to Ithaca. On one hand, this procedure is exemplary of the games usually undertaken by Millôr Fernandes in order to demystify well-established truths, icons and ideas: the author calls into question the making of the hero ideal, primarily focusing on the deconstruction of what is myth and what is the real possibility in the human sphere. On the other hand, the fabular recreation indicates a moralising elaboration, presenting the undoing of the odyssean narrative so as to question humanity and the dynamics between the sexes. Thus, by focusing on the hero’s shortcomings and the lascive, demeaning influences of the female characters, this article proposes an analysis of the reception of the myth of Odysseus through the satirical and desacralizing lenses of brazilian author Millôr Fernandes.
