La novela de Jenofonte de Éfeso ha sido tradicionalmente interpretada como un epítome de una obra original perdida. Por ello, se ha considerado que presenta un estilo sencillo, en el que las alusiones a la tradición literaria no desempeñan un papel relevante. El presente trabajo propone, sin embargo, una lectura diferente: a partir del análisis de un pasaje concreto, se pone de relieve la imitación de Tucídides y, con ello, una mayor complejidad compositiva.
